MARQUETTE COUNTY LAKES ASSOCIATION
 BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
FEBRUARY 25, 2016

Meeting was called to order at 1:30 p.m. by President Ron Sabel
Board Members Present:  Ron Sabel, John Cotter, Mike Jacobi, Walt Brunowski, Lee Vaughan, Dave Casper, and Al Rosenthal
Also Present:  Krista Kamke and Tom Onofrey
The January 14, 2016 minutes were approved on a motion by Al Rosenthal and a second by John Cotter. Approved
Lee gave the treasurers and membership report.  We have a balance of $1350.49 and 12 lakes have paid their dues for 2016.  Williams Lake called and their dues will be coming in a couple of days.  Motion was made by Ron Sabel and seconded by Dave Casper.  Approved   Treasurers and membership reports attached.  Al will send out a dues reminder in April along with the notice of the May meeting.

REPORTS

Golden Sands RC&D Council report was given by Al Rosenthal and Krista Kamke

One AIS coordinator was let go because the grant for the Portage County area was not approved and  Karen, the Administrative Coordinator is going back to school, and the posting is now up for a replacement. 

Central Sands Water Action Coalition- Mike did not report on any meetings, and Ron and Al said they would fill in for Mike when he has any conflicts with meetings, etc.

A motion to Support the Central Sands Water Action Coalition was made by Al Rosenthal and seconded by Dave Casper.  Approved   Agreement attached
Marquette County LWCD   Report.   Pat Kilbey was unable to be at the meeting.  The banquet on April 7th in Wautoma was discussed.  It is to honor those who have helped with stream monitoring and lake level monitoring.

 Wisconsin Lakes Report   Al Rosenthal reported that Mike Engleson is the only full time employee and he has been very busy keeping up with proposed bills from the legislation, and testifying usually against the bills, because of the damage they will do with our Lakes and water quality.  The Lake Partner Convention will be held March 30 thru April 1st in Stevens Point.

 AIS Coordinator Report-  Krista Kamke reported on the quick guides that were developed for Spiny Waterfleas and Purple Loosestrife.  The guides are on the Golden Sands and Marquette County Land Conservation websites.  Krista reported that she has been accepted for the Lake Leaders training program and needs to complete an application form with a number of essay questions.  The cost for her is $300.00.   A motion was made by Lee Vaughan and seconded by Dave Casper to give $150.00 towards Krista’s share of the cost for the training program, with the understanding that Green Lake will contribute the other $150.00.  Approved

 Mike Jacobi said we should not give him any per diem or mileage for attending LWCD meetings for now.

Tom Onofrey presented and went over a draft of zoning code changes that effect lake property.  Board of Directors have a copy of the draft.

 May 12th Meeting

Invited   Amy Thorstenson, Golden Sands ex. Director to talk about grants, AIS etc.

Report by Pat on stream and lake monitoring and how it is or might be used

Healthy Lake Grants – Tom Onofrey and Pat Goggin will be invited

Tom Onofrey asked if we could invite neighboring Counties for the Healthy Lake Grant presentation and we all agreed it would be a good idea.

It was suggested that in the fall we invite Secretary of Agriculture Ben Brancel to our meeting.

Next Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for April 14th at 1:30 p.m. in Westfield
