MARQUETTE COUNTY LAKES ASSOCIATION

Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

June 12, 2014

Board Members Present:  Lee Vaughan, Doug Griesbach, John Cotter, Ron Sabel, Walt Brudnowski and Al Rosenthal

Also Present:  Pat Kilbey, Tom Onofrey, Jim Audiss and a second representative from Crystal Lake

-Tom Onofrey, Marquette County Zoning, The County is cleaning up definitions on Tourist Rooming House.  This is for short term rentals of houses, cottages.  In order to have a place that is rental on short term you need a special assessment, which includes a hearing.  The County is also working on cleaning up language on bunkhouse/temporary guest quarters.  This is a place that is a temporary sleeping quarters with or without plumbing.  Crystal Lake residents have a concern over some temporary housing on Crystal Lake.  The building codes for temporary guest quarters have been developed to protect people.

-The minutes of the April 10, 2014 meeting were approved on a motion by John Cotter and a second by Walt Brudnowski.  Approved

-The treasurer’s report was presented by Lee.  It showed a balance of $1961.72 as of May 30, 2014.  Lee also presented the membership report, which showed 19 paid members.  Sandy Lake, Lake Puckaway, Oxford Conservation Club and Friends of White River have not paid this year.  The reports were approved on a motion by Doug Griesbach and a second by Ron Sabel.  Approved

-Golden Sands RC& D Council will be represented by Al Rosenthal and all the contacts have been made.
 
-No reports were given by Mike Jacobi and Chris Hamerla

-Pat Kilbey said they will begin interviewing for the secretary position shortly and should be filled within a month.

-Al Rosenthal reported on the Lakes Partnership convention and how Wisconsin Lakes is planning for sustainability and becoming a stronger advocate for lakes in Wisconsin.

-Annual Meeting will be held on September 11th.  Guest’s to include Tom Onofrey, County Zoning Administrator, Chris Hamerla, AIS Specialist, and someone to update everyone on the CAFO Dairy situation, and possibly Marquette County Sheriff, Kim Gaffney.  Ron Sabel will contact the CAFO people and if needed he would contact the Sheriff.  Heather Gottshalk was also listed as a possible speaker.

-Funding for the AIS Coordinator Position

-Some idea’s were to do some types of projects where we could receive an in kind contribution that we could then transfer to the AIS.  This would be in addition to the projects that we already are doing.  We would receive clarification on this from Pat Kilbey.

We are residents on Buffalo Lake. With the draw down of the lake for dam repairs, we have not spotted any pan fish at all! Are there any plans to re-stock the lake? And if not, how would our Lake Assoc go about it?
