SPRING MEETING
May 12, 2011
6:30 p.m. Marquette County Service Center
Board Members Present: Doug Griesbach, John Cotter, Mike Jacobi, Dave Casper, Ron Sabel, Lee Vaughn, Bob Krause, and Al Rosenthal
Also Present: Pat Kilbey, Bill O’Conner and 26 other members representing the Marquette County Lakes
Meeting was called to order by President Ron Sabel at 6:38 p.m.
Introduced the Board Members and Attorney Bill O’Connor who presented the history of lakes and boating laws in Wisconsin. He discussed State law boating violations, local authority and sheriff department authority.
Attorney O’Connor said that State Law paid for up to 75% of expenses for boat patrols, and that it was a sum certain, and was divided by those lakes which did have boat patrols.
There was much discussion during and following Attorney O’ Connor’s presentation.
It was agreed by the members present that we contact the Marquette County Sheriff and see how we could work with the department to enforce local ordinances and State lake laws.
Lee Vaughan, Treasurer gave a report on membership and finance report. We have 16 lake members and have an ending balance of $2327.09. Reports attached to the minutes.
John Cotter reported that he had put new DNR fishing regulation signs up by public boat landings, and that if more were needed that they could contact him .
A Fall meeting will be held and that meeting will be the Annual Meeting. The Marquette County Sheriff will be contacted to be our guest.
No other old or new business was presented.
Meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
