Minutes of April 13th Meeting

Board of Directors Meeting
April 13, 2012
Marquette County Agricultural Center

Board Members Present: Ron Sabel, Dave Casper, Mike Jacobi, Doug Griesbach, Walt Brudnowski and Al Rosenthal

Also Present: Pat Kilbey

Meeting was called to order by Ron Sabel at 1:35 p.m.

Minutes of February 9, 2012 meeting were approved on a motion by Mike Jacobi and a second by Dave Casper. Approved

Treasurer’s report was given by Ron Sabel in the absence of Lee Vaughan. Balance as of April 1, 2012 was $2309.09. Addition of $60.00 since 2/09/12. Since April 1st two additional lakes have paid dues of $30.00. Lawrence Lake and Lake Burnita. Membership is at 22 lakes.
Treasurer’s report was approved on a motion by Dave Casper, and a second by Doug Griesbach. Approved

AIS GRANTS
After much discussion, it was agreed that information would be obtained concerning various AIS grants.

CAFO
Not sure of the status of court hearings concerning the CAFO in the area. No other concerns reported.

LOTUS PLANTS
A report on the Lotus plant project on Buffalo Lake was sent to MCLA by Rich Brefeld. Ron Sabel moved that MCLA send to Buffalo Lake P&R District $140 for poles to place Lotus Plant signs on at boat landings. Second by Mike Jacobi. Approved.

MAY MEETING
The meeting is on May 17th at 6:30 p.m. at the Marquette County Service Center. Speakers will be John Kerkhaver, Lobbyist for Wisconsin Lakes, and Scott Froehlke. Reports will be give by Rich Brefeld on the Lotus project , Jean MacCubbin on the CAFO and Pleasant Lake and Lori Killian on Boat Safety classes. Pizza and pop will be provided.
A motion was made by Ron Sabel and a second by Dave Casper to give $100.00 to Wisconsin Lakes for John Kerkhaver presentation. Approved. It would not be for WL general fund.
The September meeting will probably on the last Thursday in September, and we will ask the group on May 17th of topics of interest.

LAKE ENFORCEMENT
Mike Jacobi reported on the appointment of an Enforcement Officer for Town of Newton and Sharon Lake. It has worked well, and it is a volunteer position. It has been approved by the sheriff’s department and the Town of Newton.

BOAT SAFETY CLASS
No information. Lori Killian will be contacted to see where we should go with this project.

Meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m. on a motion by Walt and a second by Doug. Approved.
