Minutes of 2012 Annual Meeting

MARQUETTE COUNTY LAKES ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING
September 13, 2012
6:30 p.m. Marquette County Service Center

President Ron Sabel called the meeting to order at 6:42 p.m.

Introductions were made after the pledge of allegiance

Board Member Present:  Bob Krause, Mike Jacobi, Lee Vaughan, Dave Casper, Ron Sabel and Al Rosenthal

Also Present:  Ryan Glassmaker, Neil Diboll from Prairie Nursery, Ressa Evans from Adams County and 22 other members representing Marquette County lakes. (Evening of Bears vs. Packers football game)

The first presenter was Reesa Evans who is the Lake Manager for Adams County.  She stated that the number one issue in Adams County is water quality.  She used Mason Lake in Briggsville, which is in both Marquette and Adams County as an example.  She explained what they were doing to improve the water quality.

The second presenter was Neil  Diboll, President of Prairie Nursery.  Neil gave a very interesting presentation on what could be planted by the lakes.  Hopefully Neil will be able to come back in the Spring and continue his presentation. 

The minutes of the 2011 Annual Meeting were presented by Secretary Al Rosenthal, and on a motion by Lee Vaughan and a second by Dave Casper were approved.

The treasurer’s report was given by Lee Vaughan.  It was approved on a motion by Dave Casper and a second by Mike Jacobi.  The report is attached with these minutes.  The membership report was also given and it was reported we had 23 members by dues in 2012.

Al Rosenthal reported on the AIS proposal that Wisconsin Lakes and DNR are working to have added to the State 2013-2015 budget.  He also mentioned that Bob Clark will be a new member of the Wisconsin Lakes Board of Directors.  Al also reported on the status of the Buffalo Lake draw down and the repair of the dredge bank.  The draw down will be for 21 months, and the project should be completed in Spring of 2014.  Town of Packwaukee is developing an ordinance for siting of livestock facilities.

Bill Vance reported on the Richfield CAFO and what the Friends of the Central Sands are doing legally to protect lakes and streams from impacts of high capacity wells and the spreading of waste in sensitive areas.  He reported on an event that is scheduled on October 19th and 20th at Woods Camp to raise funds for the legal battle.  Francis Rowe of Pleasant Lake also spoke on what is happening with the fight to protect our lakes.

A vote of thank you was given to Jeff Quint, the former president of the Lake Burnita Lake Association, who is moving out of the area.

Lori Killian reported on the first boat safety course held the week of July 2nd.  15 students took the course, it was sponsored by Marquette County Lakes Association. 

A couple items on the agenda were not done because of the time of the evening, but will address at our Spring meeting which will be held on May 9th. 

A motion was made Bob Krause to adjourn at 9:09 p.m. and seconded by Lee Vaughan.  Approved
