MARQUETTE COUNTY LAKES ASSOCIATION
SPRING MEETING
May 9, 2013
6:30 p.m. Marquette County Service Center
President Ron Sabel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Introductions were made after the pledge of allegiance.
Board Members Present: Doug Griesbach, Mike Jacobi, Dave Casper, Ron Sabel, Walt Brudnowski,
John Cotter, and Al Rosenthal
Also Present: Pat Kilbey, Neil Diboll from Prairie Nursery, and Chris Hamerla, AIS Coordinator and 28 other members representing Marquette county lakes.
Chris Hamerla was introduced as the new Marquette/ Green Lake AIS coordinator. He told the group what an aquatic invasive species coordinator’s responsibilities were and what he would be doing in the months ahead. He encouraged lake groups to invite him to their meetings.
Neil Diboll, President of Prairie Nursery continued his presentation from the Fall meeting. He opened it up to questions about planting near the water and what plants to use to maintain the soil.
John Cotter reported on the GoldenSands RC&D, he is the member that represents Marquette County .
Mike Jacobi reported on Central Sands Water Action Coalition, he is the member representing Marquette County.
Pat Kilbey reported on a 6 County project which is studying the joint effect of high pressure wells in the area.
Old Business
No one was present to update the CAFO Dairy concern. Ron Sabel reported on the May 18th outing in Coloma to raise money for the attorney fees .
Bill Lewis, President of the Buffalo Lake P&R reported on the dredge bank, gates and spill way replacement. Lunda has the contract and hopefully it will start in June.
New Business
Lori Killian reported on the recently completed Boat Safety Class. 7 attended the class which was held at the Town of Packwaukee town hall. A July class is being considered.
Ron Sabel reported on projects for 2013, and supporting the AIS coordinator and working with DNR on the 6 county project will be the main projects.
Members present were encouraged to let Board members know of other issues that they would like interested in.
September 12, 2013 will be the Annual Meeting date.
