MARQUETTE COUNTY LAKES ASSOCIATION
SPRING MEETING
MAY 8, 2014
6:30 p.m.
Marquette County Service Center
The treasurers report was approved on a motion by Mike
Jacobi and a second by Dave Casper.
Approved.
Chris with the help of Judi talked a little bit about
boat safety, Clean Boats/Clean Water and the use of life jackets. Chris said that they would be having a water
guard patrol in the area this summer.
A discussion followed on the value of County Lakes
Association and being able to get things done on the lakes to help to protect
them.
Pat Kilbey reported on Stream monitoring project and also
Lake/groundwater monitoring project.
This kind of data is becoming more valuable in order to financially
support projects by DNR.
Bill Lewis from Buffalo Lake reported on the dredge bank,
spill way and boat landing project in Montello on Buffalo Lake. The project is on schedule, and the lake is
full.
No One present to report on the CAFO’s in the Pleasant Lake area.
John Cotter reported on Golden Sands RC&D
Council. He will be resigning as a
director on the council, and someone else from the Bd. of Directors of MCLA
will be appointed. The council is the
one who wrote the grant that got Marquette County/Green Lake an AIS
Coordinator.
Mike Jacobi reported on the Central Sands Water Action
Coalition. They are a lobbying group,
and right now have very little to report.
Round Table Discussion
Jim Martin reported on Lawrence Lake and dam inspection
and work that needs to be done on their dam.
He was looking for a name of a contractor.
Comstock Lake talked about insurance for their dam. Hard to get.
Project….Need to get data for salary and benefits for a
lake specialist/AIS coordinator for Marquette County. Chris’s position is funded for one more year
after this year, and grants are hard to come by, and we should begin thinking
and planning on how to fund the position permanently.
Meeting adjourned at 8:12 on a motion by John Cotter and seconded by Dave Casper. Approved
Minutes by Al Rosenthal, Secretary
