MARQUETTE COUNTY LAKES ASSOCIATION
 
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
February 17, 2015

 

The meeting was called to order by Ron Sabel at 1:35 p.m.

 

Board Members Present:  John Cotter, Ron Sabel, Mike Jacobi, Dave Casper, Bob Krause, and Al Rosenthal

 

Also Present:  Chris Hamerla and Pat Kilbey

 

The December 11, 2014 minutes were reviewed and approved on a motion by Mike Jacobi and a second by John Cotter.  Approved

 

No treasurer’s report  There are 17 paid members as of 2/1/2015

 

Golden Sands Report- Pat Kilbey and Al Rosenthal reported on the work of Golden Sands and that they had been granted 2 of the 3 DNR grants that they wrote,.

 

Central Sands Water Action Coalition.  Mike Jacobi reported on a meeting to be held on Sunday, 2/22/2015 in Wautoma.  Mike will not be able to attend. 

 

Marquette County LWCD-  Pat reported that the County will have a Chemical waste pick up in August.  Information to follow. 

 

AIS Coordinator Report- Chris reported that Golden Sands received the DNR grant for two more years for a coordinator in Green Lake and Marquette County.  Chris will limit his time in Green Lake and Marquette County because he will also be working with Wood, Taylor and Marathon Counties.  Krista Kamke will interviewed for the position in the near future.  The work of the Coordinator will also include Mecan and Fox Rivers.  There will be two interns to work with Clean Boats/Clean Waters.  They will especially work with Green Lake and Lake Puckaway.  Each month there will be a workshop, where lakes can learn about clean boats/clean water.

 

Chris talked to Amy, executive director of the Golden Sands about our having an outdoor event for kids in the fall.  Amy will meet with us to review what we need to do to make this happen.

 

High Capacity Well meeting held on February 6th.  Ron and Al attended the meeting put on by the Marquette County Farm Bureau.  The meeting was informational.  Marquette County Lakes Association will not move forward with any resolutions to the LWCD and/or County Board dealing with high capacity wells at this time.

 

Al asked Pat why the MCLA did not have a representative on the LWCD, and if that was even possible.  Pat said that other counties did have a lake representative on the Counties LWCD, and he felt we should address the possibility with his LWCD committee.  Pat will put us on the agenda for the April 14th meeting.  Al, Mike and Ron said that they would be interested in attending.
